Key Considerations for the Reserve This reserve contains part of Flagstaff Point. Other parts of Flagstaff Point are in other Crown reserves or are land owned by Council rather than the State Government. This area is part of the State Heritage Item Wollongong Harbour Precinct. Part of the seawall is included in this reserve and the sea wall is a local heritage item through the Wollongong 2009 LEP. The seawall is part of the Wollongong Harbour fortifications from the late 19th Century which are of significance for the State of NSW for historical, aesthetic, associative, social, scientific, and reasons of rarity and representativeness. This area is part of the Blue Mile and is the heart of the civic celebrations of Wollongong. Tourists and residents are attracted to its views and history in large numbers on a daily basis for recreational and social purposes.
