Key Considerations for the Reserve This reserve is home to the Old Mine Surgery that is managed by the Helensburgh & District Historical Society Inc. In 2019 the Society has received State government funds to upgrade the toilet facility, which occupies part of reserve number 87211, the Patrick McCarthy Hall – Destroyed by Fire. The Mine Surgery is not heritage listed in the Wollongong 2009 LEP, but it serves a historic preservation purpose and education function in its operation as a museum.
