  • Natural Area Foreshore

Key Considerations for the Reserve
The Hill 60 Reserve includes heritage listed items under the NSW Heritage Act 1977 and Wollongong 2009 LEP. The area has a rich history in terms of its significance to the Aboriginal community and its Word World II associations.

The reserve is not declared to be ‘Critical Habitat’ or land directly affected by a Recovery Plan. However, the following may be present as noted below. Presence of Threatened Fauna Green and golden bell frog.

At its meeting of 22 May 2019 Council’s Aboriginal Reference Group identified this reserve as important and for Council to continue to talk with the Aboriginal community about this land. Also in the reserve is the Headquarters for the Marine rescue operations by the Coastguard.

The Hill 60 Reserve includes Hill 60 and Battery Point. Council endorsed a masterplan for Hill 60 and is currently preparing an Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment Report and revised Conservation Management Plan for the site to support the relevant approvals required to implement the Hill 60 Masterplan.
