Stuart Park Reserve includes:

• Restaurant and Kiosk
• Illawarra Live Steamers
• Significant natural vegetation
• Open spaces of green lawn

The reserve is part of the Blue Mile and plays an important role in the community identify of Wollongong hosting many events ranging in size from local to international. The Crown reserve was gazetted as Stuart Park in 1885.

The reserve is not declared to be ‘Critical Habitat’ or land directly affected by a Recovery Plan. However, the following may be present as noted below:

• Presence of EECs MU33 – Bangalay Sand Forest
• MU35 – Swamp Sclerophyll Forest
• MU36 – Swamp Oak Floodplain Forest
• MU53 – Sydney Freshwater Wetland
• Presence of Threatened Fauna: Powerful owl

The reserve also includes local and state heritage items. Norfolk Pines and Canary Island Palms are of local significance while the North Beach Precinct is a State Heritage item. Council is currently planning a refurbishment of the North Beach Surf Life Saving Club and a new sea wall.
