Consultation has concluded

As part of Council’s commitment to improving road safety and transport connectivity, we're planning to make improvements around Corrimal Train Station so that your journey is a safer one.

About the project

We're working with Transport for NSW to improve two locations around Corrimal Train Station. This project is part of Transport for NSWs ‘Transport Integration and Placemaking’ program to improve access around selected train stations across our city. We want you involved throughout our planning so that these proposed changes will suit your needs and improve your experience at Corrimal Station.

Murray Road is a key connection for people travelling from Corrimal Train Station to school, the shops, and the beach. We’ve identified a number of improvements we can make along Murray Road, which we are sharing with you. We also have plans for further improvements on Railway Street, Corrimal. Together, these projects will support access to Corrimal Train Station to ensure your journey to catch the train is a safer one.

Murray Road - What are we proposing?

Murray Road is a key east-west connection through East Corrimal to many attractions along the way to the coastal shared path. The draft concept design includes

  • A 950m shared path along Murray Road to link Corrimal Train Station to the existing coastal shared path.
  • Five new raised pedestrian priority crossings.

Railway Street - What are we proposing?

Railway Street is a local, yet busy road running in an east-west direction north of Corrimal Station. There are currently no pedestrian crossings at Railway Street near Corrimal Station. The draft concept design includes:

  • Installing a refuge island on Railway Street, close to Ruddock Street.
  • Add supporting kerb ramps, signage and line marking.

Where is this project up to?

We began consultation with the community from August - September 2024 to welcome feedback on our proposed changes to Corrimal Train Station, including Murray Road and Railway Street. This consultation has now concluded.

Our Transport Team is now working through all that was heard throughout this project. You can still view the draft concept designs for this project and see what we have planned:

How will community feedback be used and what are the next steps?

In the first phase, we were asking for your feedback on our draft concept designs. We’re interested to hear your local knowledge and ideas.

In the second phase, we will check back in with the community to finalise the detailed designs and take any last comments before we start construction.

Construction is planned for 2025/2026 - 2026/2027 financial years as listed in our Infrastructure Delivery Program.
