FAQs
Why is Council doing this project?
We are utilising the funding opportunity provided by Transport for NSW through the Transport Integration and Placemaking program to improve access around selected train stations across our city. These improvements are aimed to make your journey to catch the train a safer one.
What is Transport for NSW’s Transport Integration and Placemaking program?
The Transport Integration and Placemaking program is a compliment to Transport for NSW's Rail Service Improvement Program. The Transport Integration and Placemaking program has identified initiatives which improve access to stations from surrounding areas and modes, as well as those that improve the broader community experience, safety, health, and well-being precinct wide.
How were the train stations nominated?
Transport for NSW provided Council with a list of station upgrades that align with their transport integration and placemaking objectives. This list of projects was carefully selected through discussions with stakeholders and a process of multi-criteria analysis taking in account both cost and overall alignment with objectives.
Are there any more planned projects?
At this stage, Council does not have any additional upgrades planned under Transport for NSW's Transport Integration and Placemaking program.
However, Transport for NSW will deliver additional rail developments over the next 10 years as part of the Greater Sydney Integrated Network Public Transport Plan. These developments will aim to improve the customer outcome, modernise rail assets and integrate other government investments into the rail network.
How will my feedback be used?
We review all the feedback we heard from the community during the engagement period. This includes online engagement like a survey, face-to-face feedback, phone calls and written submissions.
All feedback is important and is one factor in the decision-making process for Council. The graphic below shows some of the factors we consider in our decision making:

What happens next?
The Engagement Team will update the community on what was heard during the engagement period in our update on Phase 1 of this project. Those who participated will be notified directly of when Phase 2 will commence engagement. The broader community will be notified via this project page and our Helensburgh Neighbourhood Hub.
