Share your thoughts on proposed changes around Thirroul Train Station
The Railway Parade traffic island allows vehicle traffic to circulate from Railway Parade to the entrance of Thirroul Station. There is currently limited pedestrian access across the Railway Parade traffic island for pedestrians travelling east-west. Pedestrians are often navigating both cars and buses in this area of Railway Parade.
Thirroul Station's southeastern car park is highly used for parking, pick ups and drop offs, but is also an access point for cyclists and pedestrians travelling to the train station. Therefore, the carpark has a mix of vehicles and pedestrians who are interacting at various hours of the day and evening. There is currently limited lighting available in this carpark, impacting perceptions of safety in the area at night and as a result discouraging active modes of transport to and from Thirroul Station.
We are proposing:
- Install a footpath at Railway Parade Traffic Island
- Bus stop upgrades including the extension of kerb outside the station entrance
- Add new lighting in the Southern Carpark near Thomas Gibson Park
