Consultation has concluded

As part of Council’s commitment to the renewal and upgrade of commercial area streetscapes, we’ve developed draft plans for a pedestrian crossing facility on the corner of Russell Street and Princes Highway, Corrimal.

We're seeking community feedback on the plans until Tuesday 14 September 2021.

Background

The community raised pedestrian safety and access issues as part of the Corrimal Town Centre Plan 2015-2025 consultation. One of the strategies since identified in the Corrimal Town Centre plan 2015-2025 is the delivery of a pedestrian-friendly main street, with improved crossing facilities on the Princes Highway. To deliver on this strategy, we’ve developed plans for a more pedestrian-friendly main street. The initial stages of these works have been completed and we’re planning future works (known as Stage 2b) along the west side of Prince Highway and south side of Russell Street.

Purpose and use

This signalised pedestrian crossing is proposed to provide the best balance between vehicle traffic flows and pedestrian safety/movements. The pedestrian crossing facility will improve access for vulnerable groups including elderly people, people with disability and younger people.
