Data Breach Response Policy
Consultation has concluded
In today’s technological world, keeping your data safe and protected is very important. As a response to changes in the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW), we have developed a new policy that explains how Wollongong City Council would handle a data breach.
Council resolved on 31 July 2023 to place this policy on public online exhibition, and we would like your feedback.
Our policy explains:
- What our response may be if a data breach occurred
- How we will notify those affected by a breach
- What actions we may take to prevent data breaches in the future
