We’re making our next Disability Inclusion Action Plan and want to hear from people with disability, their families, carers, and support workers. Tell us your ideas about how Council can make our community a better place for you. These ideas will help us make our Plan.
We want to know what helps – and what is hard for people with disability. You could tell us about:
Moving around your suburb and the places you visit.
Going to parks, playgrounds, beaches or pools etc.
Using Council services and going to events and activities.
What makes you feel safe.
What makes you feel part of our community.
What is easy or hard about finding or keeping a job.
Getting information in a way that is good for you.
There are lots of ways to share your ideas with us:
Come to a workshop - fill in the online form or phone 4227 7111 to let us know you want to come.
If you’re d/Deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech or language difficulty, you can contact us through the National Relay Service. If you need an interpreter, you can contact us through the Translating and Interpreting Serviceon 131 450. You’ll need to give our phone number 02 4227 7111 for either service.
Submissions become public documents and may be viewed by other persons on request. Please read Council’sPrivacy Notification before submitting your feedback.

We’re looking for a small group of people to help us make a planto improve things for people with disability in Wollongong.
What will the group do?
Share what it’s like to be a person with disability living in Wollongong.
Help us think of ways to fix the things people have told us are hard or could be better.
Help usfigure out the most important things to work on.
Give us feedback on the Plan while we make it.
Who will be in the group?
6 people with disability
1 carer of a child / children with disability
1 carer of someone with complex support needs
Council staff
This group will be made up of people with different types of disability. This isso we can make sure we’re hearing from people with a wide range of experiences. This will help us better understand the different ways people with disability can be supported in our community.
Only people who live in Wollongong Local Government Area will be included in the group. If you’re not sure, here is a map of the Wollongong Local Government Area. Or you can call us to ask.
How often will the group meet?
The group will meet at least 3 times between October 2025and July 2026. Each meeting will go for about 2 hours.
We will work with the group to find the best place and times to meet.
What else do I need to know?
There are only a few spots, so not everyone who wants to join willbe able to.
We will find other ways to hear ideas from the people who don’t become part of the group.
People in the group will be paid for their time.
Once we know who is in the group, we will ask if you need any supports to make it easier to join in.
How can I get more information or help applying?
Call Council on 4227 7111 and ask to talk to Kiosha Gardner.
