Consultation has concluded

On 29 July 2024, Council resolved to exhibit a draft Neighbourhood Plan for land located off Cleveland Road, Cleveland. This Neighbourhood Plan also documents the proposed amendments to the Wollongong Development Control Plan (DCP) 2009 Chapter D16 West Dapto Urban Release Area (WDURA) in relation to the Cleveland Road Precinct

What is a Neighbourhood Plan?

Neighbourhood Plans tie into the West Dapto Vision. They provide a guide about the mix of housing, roads, parks, shops and facilities that will be included in a specific part of West Dapto. A Neighbourhood Plan must be adopted before Council determines a development application for land within the West Dapto Urban Release Area.

Background:

A Planning Proposal was adopted by Council for the Cleveland Road precinct in two stages. Phase one of the Cleveland Road Planning Proposal rezoned the higher land along Cleveland Road, while the main flood areas and some areas associated with the proposed open space were temporarily paused while further assessment work was undertaken.

Phase two saw the Planning Proposal updated to include the review of flooding information. The Wollongong Local Environment Plan 2009 amendment component of the Planning Proposal is with the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure for review and finalisation. Council also resolved to seek additional flood information on one property remaining in the Cleveland precinct, however, it is not part of the draft Neighbourhood Plan.

On 24 June 2024, Council adopted an amendment to the Cleveland Road Neighbourhood Planning boundary to split the Cleveland Road precinct into three smaller sections to facilitate housing delivery. One of these is the Cleveland Road East Precinct.

The Draft Neighbourhood Plan - Cleveland Road East Precinct is on exhibition from Monday 14 October to Monday 11 November 2024 and can be viewed:
