Draft Planning Agreements Policy 2026
Find out what’s changing and provide feedback on the draft policy
The Planning Agreements Policy explains how Council uses planning agreements when considering planning proposals (land rezoning) or development applications. The Policy helps guide how these agreements are used to support community needs and local outcomes. The Planning Agreements Policy was adopted in 2023 and has recently been reviewed.
What are the proposed updates?
We are proposing some minor updates to the Policy to keep it up to date, clearer to understand and consistent with current plans, policies and legislation. The changes mostly clarify how planning agreements work, update references and ensure community benefit and funding arrangements are clearly considered.
A full description of the amendments can be found in the Council Report.
Council resolved on 20 April 2026, to place on public exhibition a draft updated Policy. We’re now seeking your feedback on the recommended changes.
