FAQs
Why is a new strategy needed?
Wollongong City Libraries has prepared and implemented a number of strategic planning documents to guide service direction and priorities, since 2012. The current strategic plan expired in 2022, which is why a new updated strategy is now being developed.
How did you come up with the draft Library Strategy?
The new strategy has been developed by a project working group, in consultation with staff from Wollongong City Libraries and from across Council.
The project team has drawn on data from a variety of sources to identify key areas of focus for future delivery of library services to the community. This includes: Wollongong City Libraries 2021 survey of 867 library members during Covid lockdown: We miss you and value you feedback; the 2022 Wollongong Learning City community and stakeholder engagement project, where 1,970 members of the community provided input through focus groups, briefings, online survey completion and visits to the website; and data captured from Wollongong City Libraries ongoing program of online customer feedback surveys.
What will happen after the engagement period?
Following the engagement phase of this project, a final draft of the strategy will be prepared and Council will be briefed on its scope and content, prior to it being reported to Council in late 2023.
