Consultation has concluded
Council is planning to provide a more reliable and sustainable power supply to a vital communications tower located on Mt Keira’s summit and to the Mt Keira Summit Park.
Currently diesel generators are providing power, which is expensive, has ongoing environmental impacts and is not reliable.
Through feasibility assessment the most effective option technically, economically and environmentally is to run a power line from Mt Pleasant above the trees to the top of the escarpment. The power line would largely align with the path of the previous power line that was owned by BHP Billiton.
Council has been in close consultation with National Parks and Wildlife Service to minimise environmental impacts and with Endeavour Energy to meet relevant standards and now the project is ready for community comment.
