Piccadilly Centre Frontage - Proposed Footpath Upgrade
Consultation has concluded
We're proposing improvement to the footpath outside the Piccadilly Centre from Gladstone Avenue to east of Jubilee Bridge, Wollongong.
What's proposed?
The following improvements are proposed for the area:
- the existing bus bay will be replaced with a full width footpath on public land
- the bus bay will be moved to the east to allow traffic access to the left-hand turn at the lights
- new kerb will be installed along the current alignment of the inside driving lane
- new stone pavers will be installed to match the works on the northern side of the road, increasing the public transport interchange area
- new high-quality basalt footpath paving will be placed on private lands to provide a consistent appearance
- street furniture will be upgraded and relocated to allow movement onto and from buses
- permeable pavement around the existing tree will be used to maintain the urban canopy
- the Australia Post box will be re-positioned by Australia Post to the Gladstone Avenue Loading Zone.
We’re expecting to start the project later this financial year. During construction you will see a construction work crew, their vehicles and equipment in the area. The work crew will aim to minimise disruption, however there may be some traffic control requirements at times.
