Why do we need a plan?

By 2036 around 20% of Wollongong’s population will be aged 65 and over. It is important that Council develops a plan to guide our community in responding to population ageing.

    What will the plan do?

The Plan will guide Council and the community in making Wollongong a better place, where older people can live safely, remain independent and stay involved in their community.

    How is Council collecting information?

Council has looked at existing information to understand what is most important to our older people. This research has shown some gaps where we need to collect more information. Council will run a survey and focus groups to collect this.

What will Council do with the information collected from the community?

The information will be used to help set priorities for the Plan.

Who will be responsible for implementing the plan?

Council will lead the implementation of the Plan and work closely with service providers, businesses, government organisations and the community.
