The draft Planning Proposal seeks to facilitate the recommendations from a Land Use and Built Form Study conducted at Wollongong City’s South East Gateway entrance, bounded by Glebe, Swan, Corrimal and Kembla Streets, Wollongong.The draft Planning Proposal seeks to amend the Wollongong Local Environmental Plan 2009 as follows:
Increase the maximum building heights to 16 metres in the western and southern portion of the precinct and 24 metres in the central and northern portion;
Increase the maximum floor space ratios to 0.75:1 where the 16 metre height control would apply and 1.5:1 where the 24 metre height limit would apply.
The purpose of the draft Planning Proposal is to allow the development of significant landmark buildings to frame the southern gateway entrance to the Wollongong City Centre and allow for the more efficient utilisation of the land.
