Consultation has concluded

The purpose of the Councillor Expenses, Support and Facilities Policy is to clearly state the facilities and support that are available to Councillors to assist them in fulfilling their civic duties as elected representatives of their local community.

The Local Government Act 1993 requires Council within the first 12 months of each council term, to adopt/ review this policy. Council resolved on 28 October 2024 to place on public online exhibition, a Draft Review of the Councillors Expenses, Support and Facilities Policy.

Proposed changes:

Council last updated and adopted its Councillor Expenses and Facilities Policy in 2022 and it has been reviewed and updated to incorporate changes to technology, amendments to reflect best practice in governance and to provide a flexible level of support to meet the differing needs of Councillors in their role. A summary of the most significant changes to the policy and the rationale for each is provided in the Council Report.

The Draft Review of the Councillors Expenses, Support and Facilities Policy is on exhibition from Wednesday 30 October to Wednesday 27 November 2024 and can be viewed:
