Consultation has concluded

As part of our commitment to managing flood and stormwater risks in our region, we have developed a concept design for the Ursula Road Flood Mitigation Scheme, located in the Whartons Creek catchment in Bulli (location shown in the map). We’re providing the community with an update on the work that’s been done to date and what measures have been recommended to move forward to the next stage, detailed design. Using the latest flood-modelling techniques, we found that using a combination of deflection levees and overland flow path measures will work best for reducing flood levels across a range of flood sizes. We want to find out your thoughts on these measures and the priorities for detailed design.

Learn more at an information session
We’re inviting residents and property owners in the area to come along to an information session to learn more about the flood risks in this area, the studies that have helped inform how we plan for these risks, and the proposed Ursula Road Scheme. The same information will be shared at each of these sessions and you must make a booking to attend.

Online presentation with Q&A:

  • When: Tuesday 23 February 2021, 5pm – 6:30pm
  • Where: A link will be emailed to you after you book in

In-person information session*:

  • When: Wednesday 24 February 2021, 3pm – 6pm
  • Where: Bulli Senior Citizens Centre, 8 Hospital Rd, Bulli

*Please note, the in-person information session is not a drop-in session.

Bookings
You must book to attend the online or in-person session by emailing C&CSAdmin@wollongong.nsw.gov.au or phoning (02) 4227 7238. Bookings for the in-person session are essential to ensure we can manage attendee numbers and all remain COVID safe.

What happens at an information session?
At these sessions, we’ll have maps showing where flooding occurs and the location of the proposed works, along with the Draft Concept Design Report. Council flood engineers will be on hand to answer your questions and to explain what work has been done, is being planned, and how the proposed measures will help divert floodwater away from houses.

Accessibility, mobility or language assistance
If you would like to attend and have accessibility or mobility requirements, please let us know how we can support your attendance. We can also arrange for an interpreter to come along to help residents who have difficulty communicating in English. To arrange support, please contact engagement@wollongong.nsw.gov.au by Monday 15 February 2021.
