Consultation has concluded

Council resolved on 21 February 2022 to exhibit the draft Chapter C1: Advertising Signage and Structures of the Wollongong Development Control Plan (WDCP) 2009.

This chapter outlines the requirements for advertising signage and structures. It should be read in conjunction with State Environment Planning Policy No. 64 – Advertising and Signage, any relevant State Code, the Local Environmental Plan that applies to the site.

Amendments to the Chapter include:

  • A section relating to a set public benefit to be provided with signs where a public benefit test is required. The public benefit test is an assessment of how the local community will benefit as a result of the display of the advertisement, and must be applied to certain advertising proposals.
  • Notes relating to proposed zone changes (which may form part of the amended DCP chapter when finalised)
  • Removal of section relating to signs in the English language
  • Additional photographs of advertising/signage examples
  • Updated references, corrections of typographical errors and formatting changes

It applies to the whole of the Wollongong Local Government Area. The draft chapter, if made, would amend the above-mentioned WDCP.

The draft Chapter will be on public exhibition for a minimum period of 28 days. It can be viewed at:
