What is a Development Control Plan?

Development throughout Wollongong is regulated by a number of Council and State planning mechanisms, predominantly: Wollongong Local Environment Plan (LEP) 2009, NSW State Planning Policies and the Wollongong Development Control Plan (WDCP) 2009. The WDCP 2009 is a Council policy document specifying planning objectives and controls (e.g., setbacks, private open space, landscaping) to guide development permissible in accordance with the Wollongong LEP 2009.

What happens after the public exhibition period?

Council will consider all feedback and submissions received and Chapter D16 may be varied as necessary. A report will be prepared for Council detailing submissions received and providing recommendations on final Wollongong Development Control Plan amendments. Council will consider this report and provide a resolution on how to proceed.
