Consultation has concluded

Council is committed to providing a robust, transparent and independent process for assessing contentious development applications, through the Wollongong Local Planning Panel Submissions Policy.

In 2018, the draft Submission Policy went on public exhibition. Further amendments have since had to be made in response to feedback from the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment.

The amendments include a reduction of the number of unique public submissions (objections) required for a DA before it is referred to the Wollongong Local Planning Panel (WLPP). The proposed amended policy maintains transparency and continuity of the WLPP to the local community.

At its meeting on 22 February 2021, Council resolved that the amended Draft Submission Policy be exhibited for public comment.

The exhibition period for this amended draft Submission Policy is 8 March to 6 April. Copies of the document can be viewed at:

  • Wollongong City Library during library hours
  • Council’s Customer Service Centre, Ground Floor Administration Building, 41 Burelli Street Wollongong, weekdays between 9am and 5pm;
  • On this site in the Documents section

To make a submission, complete the feedback form.

Alternatively, submissions should be addressed to:

The General Manager, Wollongong City Council, Locked Bag 8821 WOLLONGONG DC NSW 2500 or emailed to engagement@wollongong.nsw.gov.au

Please note that submissions become public documents and may be viewed by other persons on request.

Submissions close Tuesday 6 April 2021.
