Consultation has concluded

Child safety is everyone's responsibility. We want to know your thoughts on our draft Child Safe Commitment and Policy. The Child Safe Commitment will be our public statement committing to child safety and sits within the Child Safe Policy. Your contribution will help Council lead the way in creating a Child Safe Organisation.

What is a Child Safe Organisation?

A Child Safe Organisation is one that creates a culture, adopts strategies and takes action to promote child well being and prevent harm to children and young people. New legislation and reforms have been enacted to help protect children and young people. A key focus of the reform is to create Child Safe Organisations based on Child Safe Standards.

An internal working group has been working to guide the development and delivery of the project. The group conducted engagement in 2020 to understand our current policies, practices and ideas. We recently ran a targeted workshop with staff who have helped draft our Child Safe Commitment.
