Consultation has concluded
The Corrimal Shopfront Improvement Program aims to update the shopfronts of buildings in the Corrimal Town Centre to activate, enhance and build community amenity. The program seeks to improve the appearance of the streetscape by activating street frontages whilst celebrating the heritage and character of the Town Centre.
Under the program, local businesses and landowners were encouraged to upgrade their shopfronts through a matched financial incentive (up to a maximum of $20,000). Applications closed on 7 July 2017.
The Panel has assessed all applications in accordance with the relevant assessment criteria below.
The extent to which the project is consistent with the recommendations of the Audit Report and the Design Guide: 50%
The extent to which the project presents a shopfront that is physically and visually linked to the street, encouraging more pedestrian activity: 25%
The extent to which the proposal contributes to a cluster of eligible properties committing to undertaking improvements: 20%
The extent to which the application supports local small businesses: 5%
The Assessment Panel has recommended applications considered suitable for funding
Under Section 356 of the Local Government Act 1993, Council is required to give 28 days public notice before funding is endorsed. As such, Council is required to place the details of recommended funding recipients on public exhibition from 1 November 2017 until 28 November 2017. Following this, applications for funding will be considered by Council at the meeting of 11 December 2017.
