Community Advisory Group Expression of Interest
We’re looking for a small group of people to help us make a plan to improve things for people with disability in Wollongong.
What will the group do?
- Share what it’s like to be a person with disability living in Wollongong.
- Help us think of ways to fix the things people have told us are hard or could be better.
- Help us figure out the most important things to work on.
- Give us feedback on the Plan while we make it.
Who will be in the group?
- 6 people with disability
- 1 carer of a child / children with disability
- 1 carer of someone with complex support needs
- Council staff
This group will be made up of people with different types of disability. This is so we can make sure we’re hearing from people with a wide range of experiences. This will help us better understand the different ways people with disability can be supported in our community.
Only people who live in Wollongong Local Government Area will be included in the group. If you’re not sure, here is a map of the Wollongong Local Government Area. Or you can call us to ask.
How often will the group meet?
The group will meet at least 3 times between October 2025 and July 2026. Each meeting will go for about 2 hours.
We will work with the group to find the best place and times to meet.
What else do I need to know?
There are only a few spots, so not everyone who wants to join will be able to.
We will find other ways to hear ideas from the people who don’t become part of the group.
People in the group will be paid for their time.
Once we know who is in the group, we will ask if you need any supports to make it easier to join in.
