Walking is the cheapest, fairest and most sustainable form of transport.

However the amount of walking going on across Wollongong is in decline, while car use has increased.

Council wants to help reverse this trend and presents the draft City of Wollongong Pedestrian Plan 2017-2021 for community comment. The plan provides a vision to create a safer, more walkable Wollongong.

The plan includes ideas such as working with schools to establish safer walking routes for students, upgrading footpaths in priority areas, creating pedestrian friendly places and providing better information on walking routes.
