Draft Community Land Plan of Management 2021
Consultation has concluded
We are seeking comment from the community on the new Draft Community Land Plan of Management.
Council manages land across the entire Wollongong Local Government Area on behalf of the community. From parks and sportsgrounds, to community centres and natural areas, these types of areas are called "community land". Most of these community lands are managed under the 2018 Generic Plan of Management(External link).
Under the Local Government Act, Council must prepare a Plan of Management (PoM) over all community land and also, review any adopted PoM periodically. In reviewing the Generic PoM, Council has prepared a Draft Community Land PoM and we are presenting the Plan to the community for comment.
This draft PoM includes significantly more land and more details. It includes detailed information for 30 areas of land that are Areas of Cultural Significance and there are community land maps for every suburb with community land. It is easier to find out what community land category guides the management of each open space.
The Draft Community Land PoM does not change any community land category of any land under the 2018 Generic PoM. However, it does propose community land categories for community land acquired since 2018.
