Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LinkedinEmail this link
Consultation has concluded
Council is developing a planning proposal to facilitate outdoor dining across our city.
A draft of the proposal was exhibited for public comment in early 2014, and we’d like to thank everyone who provided feedback.
We’ve now made some changes to the originally exhibited Draft Planning Proposal for Outdoor Dining and Display of Goods Upon Footpaths. The revised Draft Planning Proposal includes the following changes:
Permitting outdoor dining areas (associated with adjacent lawfully approved food and drink premises) upon operational land, community land and Crown land to be Exempt Development under Schedule 2 of Wollongong Local Environmental Plan 2009;
Deleting the component dealing with outdoor dining upon footpaths given that this component is already Exempt Development under State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development Codes) 2008;
Deleting the component dealing with food and drink premises being a permissible use in the SP2 Infrastructure zone; and
Deleting the component dealing with the display of goods upon footpaths.
The revised Draft Planning Proposal, if adopted, will enable outdoor dining to be permitted as Exempt Development under Schedule 2 of Wollongong Local Environmental Plan 2009, on the following land as part of an adjacent lawfully approved food and drink premises:
Operational land,
Community land, and
Crown land.
The revised Draft Planning Proposal is on exhibition between 19 November 2014 and 19 December 2014.
Copies of the revised Draft Planning Proposal and other related documents (including the Gateway determination) can be downloaded from this page or viewed at:
