There are many long-anticipated works planned for Helensburgh, and we are working behind the scenes to coordinate our efforts to deliver these for the community
We’ve been consulting with the community on the Helensburgh Town Centre Plan, and this feedback will help to inform the detail for a range of projects to upgrade and renew infrastructure in Helensburgh
We’ll keep you informed about opportunities to provide feedback, including the exhibition of the draft Town Centre Plan, and other projects and opportunities in the coming few years
Helensburgh’s families will soon have a new playground to explore with work to start in spring on an updated playground in Charles Harper Park. Shade structures have been incorporated into the design, and work will start in September on the new district-level playground. Provided we get good weather, we expect the playground to be completed by November.
Helensburgh’s Town Centre will benefit through a $1.6 million grant awarded to Council for its revitalisation. Our successful application to the NSW Government included current and future projects for the town centre. These projects include upgrades and resurfacing of car parks, streetscape upgrades and improvements to make the main street experience more pedestrian-friendly. Council will contribute $1.36 million from its capital works budget for the projects, and Helensburgh’s Metropolitan Coal (Peabody) will provide a further $180,000. All up, more than $3 million dollars will be spent on projects in Helensburgh
You might see Council staff or contractors undertaking early investigations of underground services or doing surveys. This is all part of preparing concept designs for the main street, which we will bring back to you for feedback.
