What is an Asset Plan?
The draft Community Strategic Plan 2035 outlines the community’s vision and goals for the future of Wollongong. We deliver on this vision through the provision of 33 services. Each service requires assets to help facilitate and deliver these services.
Our approach to managing assets is described in an Asset Plan. It outlines a range of actions to help guide sustainable decision making to reduce the asset life cycle cost over the long-term. The Asset Plan outlines:
How does the draft Our Asset Plan guide what Council delivers?
The draft Our Asset Plan 2025 - 2035 is informed by the big-picture direction for Wollongong set in the draft Community Strategic Plan 2035. We have utilised and filtered the asset related feedback from the community gathered through the Community Strategic Plan in preparing the draft Our Asset Plan.
The draft Plan makes sure our work on assets responds to community needs, address risks, respond to future demands, considers resilience and other short, medium and long-term influences to support services.
Our suite of related documents describes the services that we provide and the draft Plan outlines how we manage the assets that are required to support those services.
Why is the draft Our Asset Plan being exhibited?
The draft Our Asset Plan 2025 - 2035 needs to reflect and respond to the contemporary community vision and aspirations of the draft Community Strategic Plan 2035. We have recently exhibited the draft Asset Management Policy and Strategy documents as part of the draft Resourcing Strategy. The draft Our Asset Plan provides detailed information underpinning our approach to asset management and seeks community feedback to inform our approach.
How does Our Asset Plan relate to the Asset Management Policy and Strategy recently open for feedback?
The draft Our Asset Plan 2025 - 2035 incorporates the draft Asset Management Policy, Strategy and a plan in one comprehensive document.
The draft Asset Management Strategy (included in the draft Resourcing Strategy 2025 - 2035) is a summary of information from the draft Our Asset Plan 2025 - 2035.
If you provided asset-related comments on the draft Resourcing Strategy 2025 - 2035 as part of the recent exhibition 'Draft Delivery Program 2025-2029 and Operational Plan 2025-2026 and Draft Resourcing Strategy 2025-2035', then this will be forwarded to the Infrastructure Strategy and Planning team for review.
How will my feedback be used?
The project team will review all the feedback we heard from the community during the engagement period.
All feedback is important and is one factor in the decision-making process for Council. The graphic below shows some of the factors we consider in our decision making:

What happens next?
The project team will consider all feedback received and Our Asset Plan 2025 - 2035 may be varied as necessary.
A report will be prepared for Council in June 2025 detailing what was heard and present recommendations on final amendments.
Council will consider this report and provide a resolution on how to proceed.
All those that have given feedback will be notified of the date of the Council meeting and how to view the relevant documents.
