Council is seeking feedback on a Planning Proposal to reclassify 340 West Dapto Road, Stream Hill (Lot 1 DP 657171) from Community Land to Operational Land. This follows the 31 July 2023 resolution of Council and the 22 September 2023 Gateway Determination by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) to progress the Planning Proposal to public exhibition.

The Proposal seeks to amend the Wollongong Local Environmental Plan 2009 Schedule 4 - classification and reclassification of public land, for 340 West Dapto Road, Stream Hill from Community Land to Operational Land. Council purchased the property in 1999 for development and resale, and recently discovered that the property was not classified as Operational Land. The Community Land classification restricts commercial dealings and development proposals and prevents the sale or long-term lease of the land. This reclassification is key to enabling the strategic intent of the land, as outlined in the West Dapto Vision and the Wollongong Development Control Plan 2009 Chapter D16 West Dapto Urban Release Area.
