Council is currently talking to the community about some proposed upgrades to Pop Errington Park, on the corner of Florence and Steel Streets, Towradgi.
The upgrades include the construction of a new amenities block, renewal of the footpath, addition of an accessible parking space in the car park and an upgrade to the area around the edge of the playground.
A design has been prepared for these upgrades along with some Frequently Asked Questions, to help explain what we have planned.
The proposed work includes removing the old amenities block and laying down new turf on that site. The new amenities block will be relocated closer to the playground and the car park for better access. It will be unisex, wheelchair accessible and include a baby change table. It will also be automatically cleaned after each use.
We’ll put new seating in a paved area next to the playground, as well as planting some trees in this spot to provide shade. We’ll also put a bubbler in an area that is central to people using the playground, picnic table and shared path.
Some additional car barriers will be installed near the playground to improve safety and a new bin with a dog waste bag dispenser will be put in near the footpath. Kid’s cycleway signage will be installed along the footpath, which will also receive line marking.
Construction works on the footpath are expected to commence later this year and the amenities block will be constructed in the 2017/18 financial year.
