Port Kembla Beach Access Ramp
Consultation has concluded
We've had many conversations with our community about access and inclusion. Port Kembla beach was identified as one of four key beaches in Council’s Beach and Foreshore Access Strategy 2019-2028. The Strategy sets out Council’s plan to practically support people with a disability to access our beaches and foreshores, to participate in family and community activities.
Our proposal
We're inviting your feedback on plans for a Beach Access Ramp to be installed at Port Kembla beach. The proposed ramp will connect the promenade to the sand. It has been designed to withstand the harsh coastal environment and changing sands and tides, ensuring accessibility to the beach is maintained into the future.
The Beach Access Ramp follows on from the recent accessible amenities upgrades at Port Kembla beach. Improved access benefits the whole community including those using wheelchairs or prams, people with limited mobility and carers.
At this stage, construction is planned for the off-peak period of winter 2022
Your feedback
Please read the Frequently Asked Questions and view the Consultation Plan on this page before completing the online feedback form The Consultation Plan shows an image of the site, the proposed location of the access ramp and alternative routes for pedestrian access required at times during construction.
