Proposed JP Galvin Park Upgrades
Consultation has concluded
The importance of the city foreshore as a unique recreational and tourism precinct has been acknowledged in Council's priorities for many years. A series of improvement projects have been planned for or have recently been undertaken in Stuart Park. Council has recently upgraded the children’s playground and parking and is proposing to relocate the existing Stuart Park amenities. Other works taking place in the Stuart Park precinct in 2016 include further upgrades to parking, pedestrian/cycle access and constructing an elevated boardwalk.
In JP Galvin Park, which sits between Stuart Park and the beach dunes, Council is proposing to replace seven picnic shelters which have deteriorated in the harsh coastal environment. As well as replacing the ageing shelters, plans include the creation of a pathway to three of the shelters closest to the car park, and an extension of the footpath along the edge of the car park
