Following extensive community engagement in 2019, Council has been working on a concept design for a new district community centre and library in Warrawong. We asked the community how we could make the facility a welcoming and accessible place for all and what people wanted to be able to do there.

Many of you provided valuable feedback which helped shape the vision and design for the building which now includes an outdoor community space - the town square. We are excited to bring you the first look of our new district facility and invite your participation in bringing the town square to life.

The site for the new community centre and library is on the corner of King and Greene streets in Warrawong.

Register for placemaking

Placemaking is about creating good public spaces that promote people’s health, happiness, and economic well-being. We'll be taking a placemaking approach to the new Town Square as we want the community at the heart of creating this new outdoor public space for Warrawong. If you're interested in being involved in the coming years, we'd love to hear from you. Read more in our FAQs and register your interest using the online form, or email us at engagement@wollongong.nsw.gov.au or call the Engagement Team on (02) 4227 7111.

  • If you'd like to be contacted about placemaking activities for the community, please leave your name and email here.

As we go about the more detailed design of the town square we may ask for your ideas on it's spatial layout, about greening with trees and plants, signage, public and community art and how it can function to support community events.

Community engagement activities that we plan will be offered to people who register and you can opt in or out at any time.
