Consultation has concluded

Council has been planning for social infrastructure needs for West Dapto for many years. Social infrastructure means the places and spaces in a community that help people connect, be active, create and learn. It includes community and cultural facilities such as libraries and community centres, and open spaces and recreation.

We recently coordinated a needs assessment to review what the growing community in West Dapto will need in the future. You’re invited to view the assessment and let us your thoughts by 28 February 2023.

About the West Dapto Social Infrastructure Needs Assessment

West Dapto is Wollongong City Council’s and the Illawarra-Shoalhaven region’s largest urban growth area. It's estimated the area will provide 19,500 dwellings to accommodate an additional 56,500 people once fully developed.

The draft West Dapto Social Infrastructure Needs Assessment outlines what social infrastructure should be planned for residents in this area in the next 50 years. It includes things that are owned and/or managed by Council like parks, playgrounds, and community centres. It also looks at other infrastructure such as the medical, health and education needs of the community.

Delivering and achieving many of the recommendations in the needs assessment requires coordinated efforts of Council, the Government and the private sector.

Further information is available in the FAQs.
