Consultation has concluded


Council is planning works on the Tramway Seawall and Shared Path between North Beach and Belmore Basin. The upgrade is part of Council’s commitment to the Blue Mile Master Plan and will improve the amenity of this popular foreshore area.

The proposed work will involve installation of a new seawall between The Cutting at North Wollongong and Continental Pool. The Tramway shared path will be upgraded with path widening, resurfacing, additional seating, lighting and public art between North Beach Pavilion and Belmore Basin.


Works are anticipated to commence in early 2017 and will be completed by mid 2018. During construction, the Gentleman’s Pool and Tramway Shared path will be closed. The Continental Pool will remain open via alternative access from Cliff Road. Disability access to the Continental Pool will remain open during construction via traffic managed access from Belmore Basin.

Council is seeking feedback on the upgrades, which can be viewed in the Concept Design Plan, available to download from the Document Library on the bottom right of this page.

You're invited to talk to Council staff and view the designs at one of the following on-site information kiosks on the grassed area south of North Beach Pavilion, North Wollongong:

    We’ll start trenching on the rock platform north of the Continental Pool in the week commencing 12 September 2016 (subject to seas, tides and swells), to get a jump start on upcoming Blue Mile works. Our trenching trials in July were a success, and doing this work now should let us move more quickly when the main construction phase starts next year.

    We’ll have to close the shared path for one day to install fencing, but after that, the path will stay open throughout the work. Access to the Continental Pool will be available at all times. The majority of
