About the project
We worked with the Kembla community and key stakeholders to develop a shared vision and plan for the future of Mount Kembla and Kembla Heights. We heard lots of great ideas and used this information to create Kembla Vision - A Plan for the Future.
The Plan presents the community’s vision for Mount Kembla and Kembla Heights. Its purpose is to establish clear guiding principles for decisions relating to the current and future needs of the people who live, work, visit, play and belong here.
Future projects for Mount Kembla and Kembla Heights, whether driven by Wollongong City Council, Dendrobium Mine operators, State Government, organisations, businesses, or community, should seek to align with the vision and guiding principles as suggested by the community and key stakeholders.
The ‘Kembla Vision – A Plan for the Future’ has been developed in response to requests from the community to have a strategic plan for the area. Responding to this request, Wollongong City Council partnered with Dendrobium Mine to work with residents and stakeholders to develop a vision, guiding principles and actions they would like to see for Mount Kembla and Kembla Heights.
