Consultation has concluded

Have you seen a mobile food truck or van near you? We want to hear about it!

Over the coming months, you may see different food trucks and vans trading at select locations on public land, across the Wollongong LGA. These may include near beaches, parks, walking tracks and sporting grounds. If you visit a food truck or van at one (or more) of these locations, we want to hear what you think about it!

You can find out more about the mobile food vending trial by reading the FAQs, and the draft Mobile Food Vending Policy. You can also have a look at the different locations where food trucks and vans will be trading here.

How do I get involved?

About the draft Policy and trial

Council has recently approved a draft Mobile Food Vending Policy and the start of a Mobile Food Vending trial. This Policy will allow mobile food vendors to trade on public land, which is land owned or managed by Council. The draft Policy and trial will help create vibrant spaces with diverse food options, across different locations in the Local Government Area (LGA). It will also create new opportunities for local mobile food vendors.

The draft Policy identifies specific locations as part of the trial. Many locations across the Wollongong Local Government Area (LGA) were assessed for suitability. We also considered what we had previously heard from local mobile food businesses, about the type of locations and facilities that support their ability to trade.

The locations selected are near public places where local community may already visit or spend time at such as parks, beaches and walking tracks. They were selected with consideration to safety and access; distance from business and residences and spaces that would benefit from more community activity, and different food options.

You can also see current locations on this interactive map.
