Consultation has concluded

Map of West Dapto with suburbs of Kembla Grange, Avondale and Huntley divided in half. Fill out the feedback forms for Avondale/Huntley and/or Kembla Grange to let us know your thoughts.

Earlier this year we asked you to suggest names for the new West Dapto suburbs. Many fantastic names were suggested. Community working groups made up of members from heritage groups and the Dapto community reviewed all proposed non-Aboriginal names. Aboriginal community members and Traditional Custodians reviewed all proposed Aboriginal names. The working groups worked closely with the project team to develop a shortlist of names that meet the Geographical Names Board of NSW criteria and are significant to West Dapto.

We intend to keep the existing suburb names of Kembla Grange, Huntley and Avondale for the suburbs marked as 'B', 'D' and 'F' respectively on the above map as the community has indicated that these names are meaningful to the area.

At the meeting on 26 October 2020 Council resolved to endorse the shortlist of names for Huntley "C" and Avondale "E" for public exhibition. We are now inviting community members to provide feedback about the shortlist of names.

Let us know your thoughts about the proposed new suburbs ‘C’ and ‘E’ (currently part of Huntley and Avondale).

At the Council meeting on 26 October 2020 Council resolved to work with residents to investigate additional naming options for the second portion of Kembla Grange.

Tell us your naming ideas for ‘A’ (currently part of Kembla Grange).
