Last year, the community shared their goals and priorities for our city’s future. We’ve used what we heard to update the draft Community Strategic Plan (CSP), Our Wollongong Our Future 2032. It’s really important that we get this right, so we are checking in with the community again.

The Community Strategic Plan is a 10-year plan that identifies the community’s vision for the future and guides Council’s understanding of our community’s priorities. It is also a whole community plan, in which all levels of government, business, educational institutions, community groups and individuals have an important role to play.

You can read the draft Community Strategic Plan or read the Summary of the Community Strategic Plan here. There is also an Easy English version available.

You can learn more about the Community Strategic Plan by reading the FAQs and watching this short video.

Hearing from the community

The current Community Strategic Plan was developed following extensive community engagement in 2011, 2017 and again last year. In 2021, thousands of people in our community shared their ideas, stories, artworks, and images. They told us what they loved about Wollongong and what their goals and priorities are for our city’s future. You can have a look at what we heard in the Engagement Summary.

We want to hear from the community again, to check that the draft Community Strategic Plan reflects what the community have previously told us.

Share your thoughts

The draft Community Strategic Plan will be on public exhibition and open for feedback until 31 May 2022. You can provide feedback in the following ways:

Once we have reviewed and considered the feedback, the draft Community Strategic Plan will be presented to Council for adoption in June 2022.

On Monday 27 June, Council adopted a number of important strategic documents such as the Community Strategic Plan, Resourcing Strategy, Delivery Program and Operational Plan.

Through an extensive engagement process over the last several months, the community provided ideas and feedback on what they wanted for Wollongong. The wide-ranging feedback received was collated and used to determine the final versions of the strategic planning documents.

At the Council meeting, Council also made a resolution to acknowledge and thank the community for their participation in this process.

Now that these documents have been adopted, we’ll add them to our website soon on the Plans and Reports webpage.

You can also view the Engagement Report here.
